Project description
The system provides access to an online platform and dahsboard that allows visualizing the execution of the picking process inside the distribution centers in real time, with prescriptive and descriptive analytical tools that ensure the optimization of picking management.
Pick To Light EAFIT is an assisted picking system, which indicates the position of the products and the quantity to be selected, achieving a fast and accurate order processing.
Operation
- Visual Indicators: On each shelf or storage location, there are LED lights or visual devices.
Each light is associated with a specific product. - Picking Order: When an order is generated, the system determines the products needed and the quantity required.
- Real-Time Instructions: Lights corresponding to the products included in the order are illuminated.
The operator follows the lights to identify the exact location of the products. - Picking Confirmation: Upon arrival at each location, the operator picks the indicated quantity.
There may be a confirmation system, such as a button or sensor, to indicate that the product has been picked. - Optimization and Monitoring: Technology provides real-time data on the progress of the picking process.
Analytics tools can be implemented to continuously improve efficiency and reduce errors.
What did we solve/what did we do in this project?
- Improved efficiency and accuracy of the picking process: Implementation of the "Pick To Light" system that uses visual indicators to show the exact position of the products and the quantity to be picked for each order.
Operators can perform the picking process quickly and accurately, reducing errors and downtime. - Access to an online platform and dashboard: Development of an online platform that provides instant access to real-time information on the status of the order picking process.
The dashboard provides a detailed overview of ongoing operations, enabling management to make informed decisions and adjust in real time if necessary. - Prescriptive and descriptive analytics: Integration of analytics tools to provide valuable information on the performance of the picking process.
Descriptive analytics provide a detailed understanding of how operations are performing, while prescriptive analytics suggest improvements and optimizations to increase efficiency. - Optimization of picking management: Use of visual indicators and analytics to optimize the picking process and consequently improve overall picking management.
This can lead to reduced costs, increased productivity and improved customer satisfaction due to faster and more accurate delivery of orders. - Reducing errors and rework: Providing clear and precise instructions to operators through the "Pick To Light" system, decreasing the likelihood of making mistakes during the order picking process.
This helps avoid rework and reduces costs associated with returns and incorrect shipments.
